A double standard. You’ve heard this before, the horse is dead or getting beaten to death. My issue is my representatives that work for these companies. Is it possible that “Corporate” is using the relationships they have built with me over the years against us both? My agency reps are constantly walking the line between Agency and Direct. My representatives are not the ones responsible for the double standard, they are just collateral damage. I’ve heard that every time I give my Underwriter a remittance I am giving them another bullet to take me out with, although a true statement, I’m not comfortable taking food from my title reps family when , for so many years they put food on my table. The title rep is a victim of “Direct” the same as we are. I would rather be shot then to do the shooting.
In a perfect scenario, I could gather up all my Agency reps clients and in one fell swoop we could all change to an Underwriter that doesn’t compete, that doesn’t talk out of both sides of their mouth, and believes in the future of the independent agent. I for one, cannot remove the “personalty” from the relationship and feel that the underwriters “bank” on that!
